
CLEVELAND (AP) - The Cleveland Indians spoiled Stephen Strasburg's return with a 2-0 win over the Washington Nationals yesterday. Corey Kluber pitched eight shutout innings. He escaped three big jams to win for the first time in 11 career starts at Progressive Field. He gave up seven hits, struck out eight and didn't walk a batter.
CLEVELAND (AP) - Cleveland Indians right-handed pitcher Chris Perez made his first rehab appearance yesterday for Class A Lake County. He pitched one scoreless inning against Great Lakes. The Indians' closer started the game, allowing two hits while striking out one. Perez is nursing a right shoulder strain. Meanwhile, the Indians continue their 9-game homestand tonight against Kansas City.
CINCINNATI (AP) - Johnny Cueto pitched six solid innings in his return to Cincinnati's rotation and Jay Bruce homered to lift the Reds to a 5-1 win over the Milwaukee Brewers yesterday. Donald Lutz drove in two runs with a pinch-hit single, and Zack Cozart and Joey Votto each had two hits as Cincinnati rebounded after 6-0 on Saturday.
CINCINNATI (AP) - Cincinnati Reds outfielder Chris Heisey is scheduled to begin a rehab assignment with AAA Louisville today. Heisey has been on the disabled list since April 29th with a strained right hamstring. Meanwhile, the Reds will open their first home series against Central Division rival Pittsburgh today.
