Jim Forbes is currently the Managing Editor/Anchor at WTRF CBS/FOX Ohio Valley/ABC Ohio Valley in Wheeling, West Virginia. He anchors the 5:00 pm, 6:00 pm, and 11:00 pm newscasts on 7 News CBS/ABC Ohio Valley and the 10:00 pm newscast for FOX Ohio Valley, Monday through Friday.
In addition, Jim is beginning his third year as Distinguished Lecturer of Communication and Faculty Advisor to BCTV 14 at Bethany College in Bethany, West Virginia. Jim oversees BCTV 14, the on-campus television station and the weekly campus news broadcast. BCTV 14 also produces programming that can be seen, statewide, on West Virginia Public Television.
Prior to his faculty position at Bethany College, Jim was an adjunct professor at West Virginia Northern Community College on the Wheeling Campus for three years. He instructed classes in television news and media ethics.
While working in radio and television, Jim has won 13 Associated Press Awards, an Edward R. Murrow Award for spot news coverage, and has been nominated for two Emmy Awards. He also received an Honorary Doctorate Degree from the Franciscan University of Steubenville in 1996 in Journalism.
Currently, Jim serves on the board of directors of Youth Services System in Wheeling. He is also going into his seventh year as the Media Representative for American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life in the Northern Panhandle.
He is also involved in the Big Brother/Big Sisters Program and has been a big brother for the past 12 years. His current “little” is 12-year-old Ethan.
He's currently working on his Masters of Science Degree in Integrated Marketing Communications from the P.I. Reed School of Journalism at West Virginia University. Eventually, Jim plans on obtaining his Ph.D. in Digital Journalism Science.
Jim has been married to wife, Leisa, for the past 18 years. They are active members of the First Christian Church (DOC) in Steubenville. Golfing is now their passion.
