Someone set off a homemade explosive device at Preston High School last Monday. One week later, the Preston County Board of Education met to decide one student's punishment.
Last Friday, school officials said they've identified one of the students involved in that incident. They say the students put drain cleaner and aluminum foil into two plastic bottles. One exploded in a cafeteria trash can, the other in the boys restroom. No one was hurt.
The board voted to expel one senior student connected with the attack. School officials say the boy didn't set off the device, but did have prior knowledge of the plan. The board continued the suspension of another student connected to the plot until a hearing next week.
School officials say they'll declare him a dangerous student which would mean the county would not have to offer him public education. That hearing will take place at the board's next meeting on Monday.
