A Marriot-based hotel is coming to Chicken Neck Hill Area of Wheeling

By Jerry Echemann

Visitors to the Ohio Valley will have one more choice in where to stay. A multi-million dollar hotel development is headed to the Woodsdale section of Wheeling. This partnership brings the name "Marriott" to Wheeling. Its a development the City of Wheeling and the Convention and Visitor's Bureau are quick to embrace. The exact plans for the 4-acre plot of land behind Blockbuster Video are finally made public by Jonathan Bedway of the Bedway Group. The Wheeling based construction company will build the facility off of National Road with a 115 room Marriot Spring Hill Suites, a possible national restaurant chain and a mixed retail/office complex. The eight million dollar hotel project will be part of the Woodsdale Plateau development. The hotel chain is known for its success, but also gives people visiting the tourist destinations in our area another choice in staying closer to Oglebay and local colleges.
