BELLAIRE, Ohio -- Two football players are recovering in the hospital after they were diagnosed with viral meningitis.
The school has sanitized the practice facility and will continue to sanitize the facility. Once Bellaire High School found out about the meningitis cases, they contacted the Belmont County Health Department.
The Health Department sent out informational letters on the conditions of meningitis.
7News spoke with a mom who has a son on the Bellaire football team to see what she has done since the meningitis cases have been brought forward.
"Well I have bleached all of his, he brought his uniform home he brought his bag home. I always wash them, but I've bleached everything really good. I'm sure most of the mother's have done that or all of the mother's have done that," she said.
The vaccination for meningitis only works for the bacterial form and some of the symptoms include a fever, severe headaches, nausea, and vomiting or just feeling sick overall.
And the typical recovery time for the disease is about seven to ten days.
