WHEELING -- In 2005, John Moffatt, who resides in both California and Dallas, set a record for riding 5,600 miles on continuous waterways via Sea Doo personal water craft.
After some Australians broke it seven years ago, Moffatt is going for it again.
On Tuesday, he stopped by Wheeling's Heritage Port.
He left Miami, Fl., on June 8. By using an atlas, he traced all of the waterways in the country from Miami that connect.
Moffatt can not take his Sea Doo out of the water. His every move on it is being tracked by GPS. Other proof of where he's been is shown on his credit card statements.
He stays in motels and hotels, thanks to his sponsors Torco Racing Fuels and Sea Doo.
He's carrying three t-shirts, a pair of pants and some hygiene products, plus two gas cans.
This adventurist has always tried to tackle big challenges. When he first moved to Hollywood, Ca., he had a tough time. He later went on to be a producer on of the No. 1 rated shows "Full House" on ABC.
His goal is to travel 100 miles per day on the water. A grand total of 11,500 will be accomplished in the end.
Moffatt feels his journey will wrap up back in Miami on October 15.
