Motorcycle riders from across the country took part in the "Let Freedom Ride" Saturday, going through two states and rallying support for the troops.
The ride took bikers about 125 miles through the mountains and into Wytheville, VA. The event raised money and support for soldiers overseas as well as those who have returned home.
"Want to support our troops," said participant John Cordes, from Long Island, NY. "We want to make sure that they know that [the troops] are loved and well-taken-care of."
"We should all be saying our prayers on our knees and thanking those people who have put themselves in harms way for our safety and our freedom," said Gov. Joe Manchin, the event's grand marshal.
Even after the ride ended, there was still plenty of excitement. Country singer Aaron Tippin prepared to entertain the crowd with a concert Saturday night.
"The song Stars and Stripes is one of the most requested songs in these hills and that makes me feel good," Tippin said.
The event might have been a "who's-who-on-a-Harley," but people agreed the real stars were the soldiers who weren't there and those who've come home.
"People that will take the time to put their lives on the the line for the rest of us out here, they're number one," Cordes said.
