ST. CLAIRSVILLE, Ohio -- A missing airman has been identified as Belmont County native Earnest Glenn Munn. The announcement came on Tuesday.

Jeanne Pyle of St. Clairsville, the sister of Munn, received a call from the government on Tuesday confirming her brother was identified.

Munn went missing in 1942 with 3 other airmen after their plane crashed into the Sierra Nevada Mountains during a World War II training mission.

Munn's body was found on top of a California glacier.

Jeanne Pyle told 7News that she always had a feeling her brother would be found.

"I always had a feeling that we were going to find out," said Pyle.

Pyle also said knowing that her brother has been found brings closure to the family and gives loved ones a sense that he is finally being laid to rest.

There are plans to bring the body back to be buried in Holly Memorial Cemetery just off of Route 250.
