WHEELING -- The Weir High girls basketball team earned a berth to the state tournament in Charleston by outlasting Tyler Consolidated in the Class AA Region 1 Final at Wheeling Park High School in double overtime 59-56.
The Silver Knights led for most of the game and had a shot to win in regulation, but Cameron Yoho's shot was off the mark.
Weir's Ciara Jones had a chance to win it with a shot at the end of the first overtime, but her three-pointer bounced off the rim.
The Red Riders eventaully prevailed in the second overtime behind 24 points from Jones. Alexandra Bobalik scored 13 points for Weir High, Leah Dankovchik added 12.
Yoho wrapped up a grear career with a game-high 25 points. Meghan Wiseman added 16.
Tyler Consolidated finished the season 17-6. Weir moves on with a 13-11 mark.
