BRIDGEPORT -- A Belmont County man is behind bars today for the alleged rape of a child.
Authorities believe the alleged rape happened numerous times over a period of years.
35-year-old James Piccin of Commercial Drive, Bridgeport, is facing three counts of rape, a first degree felony.
Authorities say he was picked up and questioned by the Belmont County Sheriff's department after Childrens Services received a tip alleging that he had been having sex with a young girl for several years.
Belmont County Sheriff Fred Thompson said Detective Allar assisted Childrens Services in interviewing the victim and he says they brought the suspect in.
Sheriff Thompson says he was advised of his rights and later confessed to having sex with this juvenile female.
Piccin is in the Belmont County Jail in lieu of 60-thousand dollars bond.
He is expected to be in court early next week.
