ST. CLAIRSVILLE, Ohio -- Less than one month ago, a woman was struck down on a St. Clairsville street in the middle of the night. Mary Carroll, 23, of St. Clairsville died soon afterward.

Now charges are pending against the woman who allegedly killed her.

Authorities confirm she is 22-year-old Amanda Hudock of Fairpoint-New Athens Road in Belmont County.

Hudock was allegedly behind the wheel of the vehicle that struck and killed Mary Carroll on Newell Avenue on April 17.

"Evidence from the investigation conducted by the St. Clairsville Police Department was presented to the grand jury," said Chris Berhalter, Belmont County Prosecutor. "They returned an indictment of aggravated vehicular homicide."

St. Clairsville Police Chief Martin Kendzora said it happened at 1:58 a.m., that there was apparently massive trauma and that Mary Carroll was pronounced dead shortly after she entered OVMC's EMSTAR unit.

Authorities say Amanda Hudock has been served with a copy of the indictment, but has not been taken into custody.

Her arraignment is set for next Thursday.

If convicted, she could get five years in prison and she could lose her driver's license for life.
