COLERAIN, Ohio -- Saturday was the final day to bid farewell to Belmont County's World War II frozen airman as Ernest Glenn Munn was buried during an emotional ceremony.
Munn died at the age of 23 when his training plane crashed over the Sierra Nevada Mountains.
Ohio Congressman Charlie Wilson presented Munn's three sisters with a Congressional Letter of Commendation.
Congressman Wilson spoke of how Munn asked his mother never to cut her long hair. She died at the age of 102 having honored his request.
Munn was recalled as a tall, dashingly handsome cadet nicknamed "The Blond Bomber".
At the conclusion of the church service, a song originally written for the first of the four airmen found was performed with an added stanza dedicated to Munn.
Munn's body was laid to rest immediately following the church service.
He is interred in the family plot next to his mother and father.
The casket was draped with an American flag.
Wilson Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
