Ohio County -- Was it a slip of the lip? Joe Biden, Barack Obama's running mate, apparently recently said he does not support clean coal for the United States. His comment was reportedly, "No coal plants here in America." But that does not support Barack Obama's views and it has caused quite a stir.
"Well, I think Joe Biden needs to talk to Mr. Barack Obama to get his story straight," said Governor Joe Manchin. "I've spoken to Barack Obama on that and we understand we need every ounce of energy to make this nation much more secure and less dependent on foreign oil. The same as John McCain has said there's certain types of mining--they just don't know the coal industry. Barack Obama's the only canidate that comes from a coal region. He represents Southern Illiinois."
"I was very disappointed in those remarks by Senator Biden," said Democratic Ohio County Delegate Orphy Klempa. "At that point, I was very thankful that it's Senator Obama who's the presidential nominee of the Democratic party. "I believe Senator Obabm understands. As a matter of fact, I know he understand the importance of all energy technology."
Governor Manchin said coal is going to be a major energy source for many years. He said we can become a world leader by developing new technology for clean coal and it could come out of West Virginia University or Marshall University.
