Nailers Name Team Captains

Forward Rob Sirianni has been named the team captain while defensemen Cliff Loya and Brock Sheahan will be the alternate captains.

WHEELING -- The Wheeling Nailers and Head Coach Greg Puhalski announced today the team captains for the 2008-09 season.

Forward Rob Sirianni has been named the team captain while defensemen Cliff Loya and Brock Sheahan will be the alternate captains.

Sirianni, 24, scored 39 points (15 goals, 24 assists) in 39 games last season while playing for the Utah Grizzlies. Rob has 1 goal and 3 assists for four points in two games for the Nailers. “He’s a lunch-pail, a real leader, Head Coach Greg Puhalski said.

Loya, 27, scored 17 points (2 goals, 15 assists) in 32 games last season while playing for Asiago HC in Italy. Loya also posted 52 penalty minutes.

Sheahan, 24, came to Wheeling after a collegiate career at Notre Dame where he posted 33 points (4g, 29a) in 161 career games. He finished his senior season for the Fighting Irish with 13 assists to go along with his 1 goal.

The Wheeling Nailers return to WesBanco Arena ice this weekend for three home games. The Nailers will also be celebrating Pink in the Rink this weekend.
