TRIADELPHIA -- We are finally that much closer to the groundbreaking on the new Wild Escape Theme Park.
All the permits have finally been approved.
Today, Theme Park Owner Steve Minard will talk to the media about the progress of the park
The final permit, dealing with the water quality has finally been approved.
Ohio County Commission President Randy Wharton said Minard still has some design work to do, and he has a couple of loose ends to tie up.
Wharton said the theme park would serve as the second huge destination sight for the Highlands....the other being Cabela's.
Cabela's brings in over four million people a year, and Wharton said the theme park would be the same, which is why he thinks the project is appealing to contractors.
“A project of that magnitude I'm sure will attract the attention of everybody locally and it's always been our hope and desire and we've always put a large amount of effort into making sure the local companies will get the work and we'll do that here to,” said Wharton.
The future sight at the Highlands for the theme park is all of the land right next to the new restaurant Indigo Joes.
Wharton said Minard will front the money for the construction of the theme park. Wharton said it costs around 20 million dollars to just start ground work, and the park as a whole will cost around 200 million dollars.
The county is confident that ground work for theme park will start this coming summer.
