The accident happened Monday afternoon at the Beckley Travel Plaza.

Troopers say 32-year-old David Meredith was crushed to death under the semi he was driving.

The Bethel, Pennsylvania native had stopped to look at his truck.

Investigators believe Meredith was inspecting the 18-wheeler when it began to roll backwards, pulling him under.

Troopers say, so far, they haven't found any obvious mechanical defects with the truck.

They're still trying to determine if Meredith pulled the parking brake before getting out to look at the truck.
