BELMONT COUNTY, Ohio -- Today is Election Day in Ohio and though there are no major county-wide races, many municipal elections are taking place.
The main event for Bellaire is a three-way race for mayor. Former Mayor Jerry Fisher and Robert P. Dodrill Sr. are challenging incumbent Mayor Vince de Fabrizio.
Four Bellaire council seats are being decided tonight, with seven contenders. In order, they are Lou Ann Bennett, Cindy DeVienzio, Serge Gentile, Orphy Klempa Jr., Ricky Parker, James Piat, and James Williams.
In Shadyside, voters will choose their mayor. Current Mayor Bob Newhart is running against challenger and former Mayor Edward Marling. Shadyside also has a school levy.
Martins Ferry residents have four candidates from which to choose for three at-large council seats. The contenders are Kristine Davis, Robert Hunker, John Regis Sr., and Paul Riethmiller. Also, there is one first ward council seat up for grabs. Bob Krajnyak and William Weekley are both in that race.
Finally, there is a fire levy in Bethesda.
