Ohio County -- An Ohio county man who was believed to be on the run from police for child neglect is now in custody.

David Hunter, 41, was arrested in the 800 block of Market Street, Wheeling, Wednesday night according to Ohio County Sheriff Pat Butler.

He went without resistance.

Police plan to charge him with child neglect resulting in the death of his 3 year-old son Charles.

Prosecutors say Hunter didn't do enough to save his son from their burning trailer back in March in the Valley View addition of Ohio County.

Hunter was taken to the Northern Regional Jail

You couldnt have said this any better.......my heart breaks for the surviving kids in this situation. they dont have a mother b/c she abandoned them and now not going to have a father around either. Very sad. We all need to remember, good people make poor choices all the time.

Kearns vs Hunter. The two cases have a lot in comon. kearns was drunk, hunter was drunk. death resulted from both. Kearns was speeding, Hunter was sleeping. Kearns ran from the scene, as did hunter. Both eye witnesses have passed away. one lived in a trailer, one lives in a nice split lvl home. One came from money, the other did not. One had. one walked away from charges, i am sure one will not. funny how money and knowing the right people changes the justice system.
