Marshall County -- A local community has it's hopes dashed after a business planning to locate there and bring hundreds of jobs has changed it's mind. Benwood was preparing for West Point Products to set up shop in town, but that's not happening now and it's back to the drawing board.

Businesses up and down the Ohio River have felt the economic difficulties facing the whole country right now. Here in Benwood they still have a lot of industry but the big problem facing them is empty store fronts like the old Ames Building. We're learning that West Point Products was expected to locate here but Benwood officials got the new yesterday that the company is keeping it headquarters in Valley Grove, West Virginia. Valley Grove offered them a break and they decided to stay. The mayor here says they're workig to fill empty stores... {ed Kuca} {benwood Mayor}

Ed Kuca, Benwood Mayor, says, "we need manufacturing job. You have to have jobs to support a family on. When you have jobs like that then retails stores will do well." West Point was so serious about moving here that they had some of their equipment here and now they're moving it back to Valley Grove where they will remain. For now the old Ames building is empty and available.
