MOUNDSVILLE -- The Moundsville Fire and Glen Dale Fire Departments were called to a home on 8th Street in Moundsville early this morning to find smoke billowing from the second floor.

Crews battle the fire, which seemed contained to the second floor.

No word on what caused the blaze.

Crews didn't say whether anyone was home at the time of the fire.

No word on any injuries.

Maybe the people on the block need to get togther. If you see someone in the empty buildings call the police.Maybe if they have to respone to calls every night they will take steps to do something about sqatters. Maybe get togther with friends or church groups and help the people on your street who can't do the work or who can't afford the repairs.Condemning homes when faimlies need places to live is wrong. Fix them up give them to the housing department or sell them to someone who is hard working but just can't save that exrta needed for a down payment because every dollar is needed to make it day to day. Complainting is easy, doing something about it is harder but so many don't want to help anyone else these days.Let goverment do it .then complain when goverment takes over,

There are 3 house on the same block that needs to be condemned including this house that burned. Other cities are doing their part in cleaning up their cities, I believe that Moundsville needs to be doing the same thing. The old nursing home seems like it has swatter, every time you turn around the doors are wide open, which is a invitation for people to enter whenever the want. The 2nd house up the street from the Mexican restaurant is probably the worse of them all. It look like a dump, and dumps done belong in the city. It has bats and rats, which is very unhealthy for those who do live on that street. I myself have mentioned this to city employees, but no one seems to care. WE NEED EVERYONE TO GET ON THE BAN WAGON TO HAVE SOMETHING DONE TO THIS DILAPIDATED SO CALLED HOMES!!!!
