Bridgeport, Ohio -- Roughly 40 people gathered outside of the Bridgeport Headquarters for Ohio Congressman Charlie Wilson (D) Tuesday.
We the People-Ohio Valley, which claims to be a grassroots organization filled with non-partisan people, claim they have been pushing for a town hall style meeting with the Congressman in regards to the Health Care Reform Legislation in Washington D.C.
The group claims that finally Wilson had agreed to meet with a few members inside his Bridgeport office. They claim when he got wind that protesters would be outside he cancelled.
However, Wilson’s people claim that is not the case. Yes, they say Wilson did agree to meet with a small group of 5 to 10 people. They also claim that the same rules of any other sit down meeting there applied: no media and no recorders. A spokesperson for Wilson claims the group changed the rules and that Mr. Wilson is happy to reschedule the meeting on the original terms.
The group dismantled just around 11a.m and headed to St. Florian Hall in Wintersville where the Congressman was taking part in an AARP panel discussion.
Thursday night from 6:20p.m. to 7:20 p.m. Congressman Wilson will be hosting a live telephone town hall meeting on healthcare reform for residents in Ohio's Sixth District.
Thousands of phones will ring shortly before then and everyone who answers will be given the option to partcipate, a news release stated. If residents want to make sure they are part of the telephone town hall but do not want to wait for the Congressman, they can call in at 1-877-229-8493 and the pin number is 13016.
