She's was surrounded by hope and support, but today riders in Belmont County were able to give a lot more to a sick little girl.

Story by Jerry Echemann

Powhatan Point, OH  -- A poker run today in Belmont County benefits a child with a serious illness.

Aubrey Brooks is suffering from a rare, genetic disease, and is in need of a bone marrow transplant.

The child cannot venture outside, since her disease causes sensitivity to sunlight as well as spleen, liver and kidney problems.

Motorcycle riders helped with her medical expenses, by paying to take part in a poker run that began at the Powhatan Fire Department.

Aubrey is the daughter of Doug and Nichole Brooks.

It is a shame that she has to worry about how to pay for care as she ALREADY has to worry about living and dying. It seems cruel to heap this kind of concern upon an already difficult circumstance. Thank goodness for the riders. If only the health care industry was as compassionate as they are.
