Posted Friday, September 11, 2009 ; 04:31 PM | View Comments | Post Comment

It should open in three years.

WASHINGTON, DC -- It was announced Friday that the Federal Bureau of Prisons had awarded a $163 million contract to a Virginia company to build a new medium security prison in Hazelton.

Hensel Phelps Construction Company of Chantilly, Va. will build a 1,280-bed prison and work camp.

The facility will employ more than 300 people with an estimated annual economic impact for the area of between $35-40 million, officials say.

Construction is expected to take three years.

A prison, work camp and female facility are already located in Hazelton.

Does it come equipped with an electric chair? We need one in this state, some criminals deserve the death penalty. We need to bring it back and make it swift and fair to the innocent citizens. When the crime is so aweful that this person could not possibly re-enter into productive society and do no further harm, then they become like junk mail...sooner or later you will run out of space to store it all !!!!!
