H1N1 Mass Vaccination Under way in Wheeling

Mass vaccination clinics are being held all over the Ohio Valley to prevent the H1N1 flu.

WHEELING -- A mass vaccination clinic was conducted in Ohio County Monday night.

Wheeling-Ohio County Health Department held an H1N1 flu shot clinic for students of Triadelphia Middle School, Steenrod Elementary School and Woodsdale Elementary School.

The clinic was the first of it's kind in Ohio County, but will not be the last, dates and times of future clinics are as followed:

*Pregnant Women Vaccination Clinic/H1N1 (Swine Flue) Vaccination Clinic Dates: Mondays and Thursdays Location: Wheeling-Ohio County Health Department Time: 9 -11 a.m. and again from 1-3 p.m.

*Medical, Healthcare and EMS Personnel/H1N1 (Swine Flue) Vaccination Clinic (Clinics will begin on Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009) Dates: Mondays and Thursdays Location: Wheeling-Ohio County Health Department Time: 9-11 a.m. and again from 1-3 p.m.

*Catholic HS, Catholic Elem., St. Vincent Vaccination Clinic/H1N1 (Swine Flu) Vaccination Clinic Date: Saturday, Oct. 31, 2009 Location: Ohio Valley Medical Center, Nurses Residence Time: 9-2 p.m.

*Children 6 months of age to 35 months of age Vaccination Clinic/H1N1 (Swine Flu) Vaccination Clinic Date: Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009 Location: Wheeling-Ohio County Health Department Time: 4 -8 p.m.

*Children 3 — 5 years of age Vaccination Clinic/H1N1 (Swine Flu) Vaccination Clinic Date: Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009 Location: Wheeling-Ohio County Health Department Time: 4-8 p.m.

Monday's clinic was for school students only. Nasal and injectable vaccines were used during the clinic. All students were accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

Immunization for other priority groups and the general population will be available for everyone after the target populations have been immunized.
