According to Holloway Fire Chief William Robertson the incident happened around 5 p.m. Wednesday evening at 348 High St. in Flushing, Ohio.

Neighbor Misty Whortman said the incident startled her and her family and they ran out of their house.

"I said, 'Oh my gosh,' old man Davis and I took off running cause I thought he was in the house," said Whortman.

Luckily, Davis was not in the house at the time it fell in, but unfortunately he had nowhere else to go and went back inside the house.

"We went inside and found the resident inside and the only lights that were operational was kerosene light for emergency use," said Robertson.

Robertson said the Village of Flushing has been trying to get Davis to move out for about five months. He said the house collapsed because of old age.

The Belmont County Sheriff's Department, Holloway, Lafferty, and Flushing fire departments all responded.

American Electric Power also responded to deal with electrical issues.

Social Services was called in to try to help Davis find somewhere to go.

"I asked him where his family was and he said he doesn't have family so we're gonna try to pull together and try to get a contractor and get his house back together cause this is where he wants to be," said Whortman.

Davis was shaken up, but not injured and was treated by paramedics. He stayed in a hotel Wednesday night.
