The gun in question was reported missing from a Sheriff's Deputy in August.

WHEELING -- A Sheriff Deputy's pistol is on the streets of the Ohio Valley.

It's the second weapon that has gone missing in the last few months from a law enforcement agency in the county.

Weapons have been stolen from both the Ohio County Sheriff's Department and the Wheeling Police Department.

One was a pistol, and the other was an M-16.

Both were stolen from the vehicle of an off-duty officer.

Sgt. Scott Adams from the West Virginia State Police said the pistol was taken from the Sheriff Deputy's car in August.

State Police are investigating this theft, in addition to the theft of the M-16 from the truck of an off-duty Wheeling Police Officer in October.

Sgt. Adams doesn't believe the two crimes are related.

Sgt. Adams said he does expect an arrest soon in the Wheeling Police Department's Assault Rifle theft.

If you have any information on the stolen pistol or the stolen M-16, you are asked to call West Virginia State Police or our anonymous Crime Fighters Tipline at 1-800-223-0312.

hrmmmm.. im not the smartest guy in the world but does the idea ever hit anyone to quit letting officers have "city and/or county" issued weapons in their personal vehicles? Sure if you wanna be rambo and have your gun on you and you are a law enforcement agent bve like the rest of us and get a permitt to carry " your own" personally owned weapon. So that we citizens dont have to keep buying you boneheads new ones....
