SHADYSIDE, Ohio -- The Shadyside Education Association and the Board of Education will meet with a federal mediator Tuesday morning at 10 a.m.

This is the final bargaining session scheduled before a looming strike set for 12:01 a.m. Friday, Nov. 13.

The teachers and the district have been at odds over a contract for months.

The Board of Education has said that it offered the teachers a 1.9 percent pay raise the first year, and a two percent raise the second year.

The SEA said its offer would have saved the taxpayers $225,000 a year through a modification in the teachers' salary schedule.

If the negotiating session doesn't end the contract dispute, the teachers have planned a 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in front of Shadyside High School.

I think what author travis is referring to is: In 2005, when Mr. Narcisi convinced the teachers into taking a pay freeze, due to the financial issues and problems then. They were there for him. But we haven't seen much support from Mr. Narcisi for the teachers in this crisis. Sort of explains the "high and dry".

To the author Travis Tomer, you obviously know nothing about me. I have committed my life to Shadyside Schools and our community. I am still committed to the school and the community. I am not a consultant on the payroll. I never have and never will leave leave someone out to dry, whatever that means.

Mr. Narcisi is well educated and experienced in school funding. More so than anyone I have ever met. He always acted in the best interest of the school.

Also his name was never mentioned in any of this coverage. Bringing him up in a situation he is not involved in shows that you must have another reason to dislike him.

Mr. Narcisi was an EXCELLENT superintendent, those of you who disagree have no idea the work he put in to make sure schools are funded constitutionally.

A word of advise. MR. BRINKER. I don"t know if MR. NARCISI is still on the payroll as your consultant, but,BEWARE. He will hang you out to dry just like he did the teachers.
