ZANESVILLE -- Shadyside's season came to an end on a sunsplashed Saturday afternoon at Sulsberger Memorial Stadium with a 27-14 loss against Grove City Christian in a Division VI Region 23 semifinal.

The Eagles, who were beaten by the Tigers 69-0 just four years ago, exacted some revenge behind a 138-yard effort on the ground from running back Jesse Barnes. Back-up quarterback Luke Swarthwaite filled in nicely, throwing and passing for a touchdown.

Shadyside trailed 20-0 in the fourth quarter before coming alive.

Senior quarterback Dylan Kimble completed 14 of 25 passes for 209 yards and two touchdowns. He also rushed for 49 yards on 16 carries. His TD passes went to Logan Hudson and Ellis Brown.

Shadyside's season is over at 6-6.

The Eagles advance to the regional final, where they'll face the Bridgeport-Malvern winner next Saturday night.

In the West Virginia playoffs, the 16th-ranked Oak Glen Golden Bears marched to No.1 Wayne, but came home with a 34-12 loss.

Golden Bears quarterback Seth Barnhart passed for 133 yards on 13 of 26 attempts. Running back Chance Rowland carried the ball 15 times for 153 yards, including a 75-yard score in the first quarter.

Oak Glen's season ended at 6-5.
