WEIRTON -- No.1 Weirton Madonna advanced to the Class A semifinals for a third straight year with a 48-0 victory over No.9 Tucker County at Jimmy Carey Stadium.

Senior quarterback Max Nogay scored three touchdowns and rushed for 147 yards. Senior fullback Louie Comis scored two touchdowns and also went over 100 yards, checking in with 147 yards on 14 carries. He also led the Dons defense from his middle linebacker position, and helped hold the Mountain Lions to 89 total yards.

Junior slot back Connor Arlia scored on a four-yard touchdown run in the second quarter, which made the score 22-0 Madonna at half.

The victory was No.100 for Blue Dons Head Coach Bob Kramer, who is in his 12th season at the helm.

Madonna now gets No.5 Wheeling Central, a 28-14 winner at No.4, and defending Class A state champs Williamstown.

Junior running back Marcus Clifford rushed for 176 yards on 19 carries and scored three touchdowns. Senior quarterback Zach Hood completed 6 of 12 passes for 76 yards, including a 17-yard scoring strike to senior receiver Jordan Sorge. Hood also ran for 114 yards on 14 carries.

Offensive guard Cody Matheny scored the Yellowjackets first touchdown on a one-yard plunge on 4th-and-goal on the first play of the second quarter. The other touchdown was an Adam Kerns to Lane Knost five-yard strike, which tied the game at 14 at the break.

Central scored on its first possession of the third quarter, when Hoood and Sorge connected. Clifford added a one-yard plunge in the fourth quarter to complete the scoring.

The Maroon Knights will now head to Carey Stadium to meet the Blue Dons in next Friday's semifinal at 7:30 p.m.

The Knights haven't play the Dons in Weirton since 1987, when Madonna came away with a victory and eventually went on to win their only state championship.
