WHEELING --  It is one of the busiest shopping days of the season.

Retailers are hoping for strong sales despite a weak economy and at the Highlands in Ohio County, shoppers were out early.

"I was up this morning at twelve. I left at one thirty and got here at two thirty," said Autumn Pardon of Woodsfield, Ohio. "I hit Toys R Us first then JC Penney's''.

Door-buster sales turned local people into early birds. Once they got inside their store, they got busy.

"I just got some pajamas, boots, tops for our daughter," said Mark Batista of Benwood Hill.

Retailers are hoping Black Friday will work it's magic by pulling them out of the red and into the black. However, shoppers are buying it. They are reportedly spending less this year.

"I am being conservative in my buying this year," said Marsha Jones of Woodsfield.

Many retailers are now offering the Black Friday sale prices into Saturday.
