Martins Ferry physicians have been added to help patients on both sides of the river.

WHEELING --  Wheeling Hospital’s Center for Pediatrics is making more physicians available at its Wheeling offices, adding another level of convenience to parents on both sides of the river.

Center Director Dr. Judy Romano, who is based in Martins Ferry, now will rotate to Wheeling Hospital along with her colleagues Drs. Mary Hammond and Sheela Rao, while continuing to maintain the Martins Ferry office.

Their Wheeling Hospital office is in Tower 2, Suite 301.

The Center for Pediatrics brings together specialists from a wide variety of disciplines to provide total health care for infants, children and adolescents.

From primary to acute care services, child/adolescent psychiatry to rehabilitation, behavioral health to pediatric endocrinology, wellness and community services, the concept of Wheeling Hospital Center for Pediatrics is to provide a medical “home” for the region’s children.

The center features the only area team of more than 200 professionals, including five pediatricians, providing pediatric services around the clock.

Pediatricians already located at Wheeling Hospital include Drs. David Mosman, Geoffrey Ruben, Laura Blosser and Hsinn-Hong Wang. Also involved are pediatric nurse practitioner Larry Darrah in Martins Ferry; and physician assistants Jamie Denham and Amanda Wade at Wheeling Hospital.

The Center for Pediatrics also operates it Rehabilitation Complex on Warden’s Road, formerly known as Waddles Run Road.

The complex provides a child/adolescent psychiatrist, and therapists specially trained to help children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders; Down syndrome; cerebral palsy; orthopedic conditions; prematurity; spina bifida; muscular dystrophy; genetic abnormalities; visual perceptual deficits; sensory integration dysfunction; global development delays; apraxia; auditory processing disorders; and receptive and expressive language disorders.

Recently, Wheeling Hospital’s Center for Pediatrics partnered with Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh.

The partnership brings Children’s specialists to Wheeling Hospital for outpatient services, including diagnostic evaluations and follow-up care, in pediatric cardiology, general and thoracic surgery, otolaryngology, neurology and hematology/oncology services.

Pediatric gastroenterology and orthopedic surgery are planned in the near future.
