Terrence Harper provided false information, police said.

EAST LIVERPOOL, Ohio -- A man who police said they believe is a major source of illegal narcotics in the Tuscarawas County area is behind bars.

Terrence R. Harper, 37, of Alliance, Ohio, was transported to the Tuscarawas County Jail from Columbiana County after his arrest Feb. 19, according to a Tuscarawas County news release.

Known on the streets as “T”, he was the focus of a lengthy undercover investigation in Dennison, Urichsville and Strasburg in 2007 and 2008. This resulted in an indictment and arrest for Trafficking in Drugs and Drug Possession, according to the news release.

He was released on a personal recognizance bond but then failed to report for a hearing. This resulted in an arrest warrant in 2009.

Investigators were unable to track him down through various leads, the news release states.

On Feb. 19, police in East Liverpool, Ohio, after he provided them with “false information regarding his true identity”, the news release stated.

Harper was charged in Columbiana County with obstructing official business. Upon completion of that case, he was released to Tuscarawas County authorities March 7, 2010, with him currently being held in the Tuscarawas County Jail.
