WHEELING -- At 13 years old, Sam Weinreb was snatched by the Nazis in 1942 and and held captive for the next three years.
Weinreb, 82, still tells the story to young people and spoke at Wheeling Park High School Thursday.
He was forced to work at hard labor every day, given barely enough food to survive on. Weinreb said he never thought he would live through it and once was forced to go on a death march.
However, he said the worst part was never learning what happened to his parents, two brothers and little sister.
Sam came to the United States afterward and married a young woman who had also lost her entire family to the Holocaust. The couple has just celebrated their 60th anniversary.
They have a son who is an attorney and a daughter who is a doctor along with one teenage granddaughter.
Weinreb says he has no hatred for anyone although it is a chapter of history that no one should ever forget.
