MT. OLIVET -- It appears a person who looked down to play with their radio might have caused a head-on collision on WV State Route 88 in Mt. Olivet Thursday morning, according to the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department.
The accident was called in around 10 a.m. Eyewitnesses claim a gold Jeep Liberty went left of center, striking a white Grand Am head-on, Sgt. Steven Cook said.
A driver following the Jeep and told police that they saw that the accident was going to happen, came to a stop, but was struck from the impact of the Jeep coming backwards during impact.
According to Cook, the driver of the Jeep told the car behind them that they looked down to change the radio.
Both the driver of the Grand Am and the Jeep were taken to Wheeling Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, Cook stated.
Charges are pending.
Route 88 was shutdown for a short time but has now reopened.
