Pink cards will help improve 911 services in your town.
Story by Elaine Tampoya
If you receive a pink card in the mail, you'll want to read it carefully!
The cards are being sent to you to make sure you receive the fastest response from 911. The cards are being used as identifiers. If you get one, you're supposed to place it either in a window or on your door. It's all part of the statewide addressing and mapping system. The purpose of that is to help 911 locate a person's exact location when they call for help. Monongalia County has already addressed all of its buildings, now it has to map them.
The state contracted microDATA G.I.S. to map all the addresses. The pink cards will be sent to people who receive mail from a P.O. Box or live on a rural route and might not know their street address. MicroDATA will send a field crew out to map all the homes and businesses with pink cards.
If you received a pink card, didn't know what it was and threw it out, or misplaced your car, call 1-800-722-6663, extension 805. You can also log onto the microDATA GIS Web site.
