Ohio Congressman Bob Ney has announced he will run for a 7th term in the 18th Congressional District. This amid allegations that he unethically accepted money from a lobbyist. The congressman arrived to a packed house at the Republican Headquarters in Tuscarawas County, and was greeted with cheers and handshakes. That support is what Ney says has made him even more energized for this campaign. He is ready to fight for his seat in Congress. Ney says, "Fiction will soon be separated from fact. My name will be cleared and at the end of the day, I will be vindicated." He means being vindicated from allegations that he took money from Lobbyist Jack Abramoff. Congressman Ney says the last several months haven't been easy. Ney says, "I've seen George Soros spend hundreds of thousands of dollars in shadow groups and 527s. People originating out of DC who have little or no concern for us, and fake and misleading ads and phone calls against me." Congressman Ney's parents watched their son defend himself, and father Bob Senior says he couldn't have been prouder. But he admits that hearing the allegations over and over takes it toll. Bob Ney Sr. says, "It's difficult because I know it's not true. And, we didn't raise Bob in that fashion and I just hope everything turns out." Congressman Ney left with more fanfare and handshakes, and without any more comment for the media. It is important to note that the Congressman hasn't been formally charged with anything. And he says he knows this campaign will be a difficult one, but he appreciates the support he receives from his constituents.
