GORE -- The Clarksburg Police are getting ready to post a police officer at a local learning center.
Right now, a police officer is assigned to each high school in the County.
Now the Harrison County Alternative Learning Center will have one, too.
The police had received grants to put two officers at South Harrison High School, but the County Commission was able to help move that money to get an officer at the ALC instead.
Chief Marshall Goff says the office will be there not just to keep the students in line, but to aid in preventative measures as well.
“It's a good preventative measure, because you've got the officers in the school who are working with the students,” said Goff. “The students become familiarized with the officer and the Clarksburg Police Department, and it allows us to get closer to the students and for the students to get closer to us.”
The grant will go to salary and benefits for the officer, and materials for the school.
