FLUSHING, OHIO -- Police in Belmont County, Ohio, have taken over the case of a Cleveland man who was found with a bullet wound to the leg after briefly disappearing Saturday.

The man, whose name has not been release, was camping with friends near Flushing when he went to walk his beagle. When he didn't return, his friends went looking for him.

He was found in a field with a bullet wound to the leg a few hours later. Although he was shot in the leg, the bullet did not tear his pants, according to the Harrison County, Ohio, Sheriff's Office.

He doesn't remember what happened, authorities said.

The Sheriff of Harrison County said it's a bizarre case.

On Monday, he turned the mystery over to Belmont County since it appears that's where the "so called" crime happened.

The sheriff said tests showed the man nor his friends had been drinking nor using any drugs.

Tests even showed none of them fired a gun.
