STEUBENVILLE, Ohio -- A former Steubenville resident is arrested by the FBI in Phoenix for a rash of bank robberies a few years ago.

Michael Yanni, 26, is in custody in Arizona after the FBI said he committed robberies in Scottsdale, Phoenix, Carefree and Marana, Ariz., in 2006 and 2007.

Yanni is a 2002 graduate of Steubenville Central High School.

The complaint alleges that Yanni wore a bandanna and mirrored aviator sunglasses when committing the crimes.

Yanni is charged with eight bank robberies, all federal charges.

He faces a maximum of 20 years behind bars for each count and a $250,000 fine.

?This is such a tragedy for the Yanni family - particularly after having lost Michaels' beautiful and deeply respected mother to a courageous battle to cancer a year ago this month. I pray for the Yanni family. I pray that they will find peace and solace during these darkest moments and that they know that there are many who support and care for them just as we did following the untimely death of Michaels' father when Michael was a bright, promising grade-school athlete and student. My heart is heavy with sorrow today for Michael and his family
