ST. CLAIRSVILLE, Ohio -- Tuesday is election day in Ohio and three statewide issues are sparking the most interest.
They center around compensation for veterans, stricter standards for livestock care and permission to build four casinos in Ohio.
While it is not a high-interest, high-stakes election, Belmont County voters apparently learned in November how easy it is to vote by mail.
They've had 5,631 requests for ballots to be mailed to people's homes, and 400 other people coming in to the election board and voting early.
Board Chairman Frankie Lee Carnes said Belmont County has several council races and various village races on the ballot.
They also have school board races, township trustee races, there are school issues, three local option issues, a county-wide issue, but she says the biggest thing in Belmont County is going to be the three state amendments.
In Belmont County, there are eight election board employees scrambling to make it go smoothly.
The polls open at 6:30 a.m. and are scheduled to close at 7:30 p.m.
