A Wheeling man will spend more than five years in a federal prison for possessing a firearm.

WHEELING -- A Wheeling resident was sentenced on a gun charge in United States District Court in Wheeling by Judge Frederick P. Stamp Jr. Nov. 9.
Gerald Wayne Jako, Jr., 24, has entered a guilty plea to one count of possession of a firearm on February 19, 2009, in Wheeling, after having previously been convicted of aggravated assault in Belmont County, Ohio.
Jako, Jr. was sentenced to 63 months imprisonment to be followed by three years of supervised release. He is now in custody of the United States Marshal until he can be placed in a federal prison.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney David J. Perri. The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives.
