SMITHFIELD -- A fire broke out in a house around 4 p.m. Tuesday in Wetzel County, trapping and killing an elderly man inside.
The fire marshal's office reported that the victim was the 80-year-old owner of the home.
The fire marshal said the fire originated in the bedroom and that investigators are still investigating the cause of the fire.
The home was located outside of Smithfield.
One source stated that ammunition was going off because of the fire.
