
Martins Ferry controlled the clock, and scored the game-wining touchdown with :19 left in the fourth quarter, as the Purple Riders stunned previously unbeaten St.Clairsville 33-28 at Purple Rider Stadium.
Senior running back Tyrel Simmons scored four of the Purple Riders' five touchdowns, including the game-winner, piling up 213 yards on the ground.
The victory was the fourth straight over the Red Devils, who were the top-seed in the Division IV Region 15 rankings. Martins Ferry virtually guaranteed themselves a playoff berth with the win to improve to 7-2 on the season. They wrap up the regular-season by visiting longtime rival Bellaire next Saturday afternoon.
The Red Devils, now 8-1 and having already clinched a berth in the Division IV Region 15 playoffs, will wrap up the regular season at home on Friday night against win less Union Local.
