Kurt Weinschenker has been telling stories with pictures since his sophomore year in high school. In between stints at the University of Pittsburgh -- where he graduated with a B.A. in Public Administration -- he served on active duty with the U.S. Army in Germany as an enlisted man, and also won a reserve commission through ROTC. While in the U.S. Army Reserve, he served as a platoon leader as well as a staff officer in a combat engineer battalion.
He broke into the video side of telling stories with pictures with long-time friend and collaborator Jim Behl at ESV Teleproductions back in 1993, where he worked on a variety of commercials and also on longer-form programs. Kurt has served in a number of roles at WTRF, working variously as staff photographer, ENG/SNG truck operator, master control operator, and now as a digital journalist. While he hasn't seen it all, he's seen quite a bit, and lends his unique perspective to WTRF's news coverage.
