West Virginia Senate President Wants Tougher Child Abuse Laws - WTRF 7 News Sports Weather - Wheeling Steubenville

On Friday, West Virginia Senate President Jeff Kessler announced that he is calling for a thorough review of child abuse reporting requirements in the Mountain State.

Kessler said he wants to increase and improve the current legal reporting requirements on notification of child abuse in order to avoid similar scenarios the recent events that happened at both Penn State and Syracuse University.

Kessler said Judiciary Chairman Corey Palumbo is examining the current laws to prepare for the upcoming legislative session.

Kessler said Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin has always been committed to protecting West Virginia's children.
