The City of Wheeling is trying to push a downtown building owner to step up and fix his property or else.
Friday morning a meeting was held to get everyone on the same page, especially the building's owner, Mark Jaber.
Jaber who lives in Akron, Ohio was given a specific list of what needs to be done to his building, and a very strict timeline to get it done.
If Jaber does not make those renovations by the dates set, it appears the city of Wheeling will then be able to take control of the entire structure for it to be razed and destroyed.
City Solicitor Rosemary Humway-Warmuth told WTRF.com, "the city has set a very expedited review of the building due to the recent health, safety, and welfare issues that have become apparent. The board has set these guidelines for the renovations very soon."
Standing beside Warmuth at Friday's meeting was Frank Wilson a city building inspector, one of the men who will determine whether the Rogers Hotel is safe and up to code.
Jaber will have until February 17th to make major renovations to the roof and outside structure.
