The Wheeling Nailers played well for 50 minutes on Saturday night, unfortunately for them, hockey games are 60 minutes.
Nailers goaltender Patrick Killeen blanked North-Division leading Kalamazoo through two-and-a half periods, before the league's top power play woke up, helping the Wings steal one from the Nailers 2-1. Killeen was working on a third straight shutout, as he posted over 200 consecutive minutes of shutout hockey over his last three games.
Kalamazoo's Dustin Cloutier scored a power play goal, his 3rd goal of the season, at 12:37 of the third period to tie the game at 1-1.
Wheeling's Nick Petersen tallied the Nailers lone goal against Wings goaltender Riley Gill in the first period. It was Petersen's second goal of the season, since being sent down from Wilkes-Barre (AHL) earlier in the week.
Kalamazoo's Nick Bootland scored the go-ahead goal with a little over two minutes left.
Killeen stopped 26 of 28 shots in front of a estimated 3,569 fans.
The Nailers, losers of two straight, will host Toledo on Sunday evening at 6:05 in Johnstown.
