This week's Wheeling Hospital Athlete of the Week is John Marshall senior Alexis Montes.
Montes has been a double-double "machine" this season, and especially last week in two wins.
Montes scored a career-high 28 points and yanked down 20 boards against Martins Ferry as the Lady Monarchs rallied from a double-digit, fourth quarter deficit to win in double-overtime.
She also had 19 points and 11 boards in a win over Brooke.
The four-year starter is all over the floor at both ends she says her motivation is simple.
Montes and the John Marshall girls qualified as the No.4 seed in the OVAC 5-A playoff race they take on No.1 Wheeling Park in the semifinals.But first things first , they take on Morgantown tomorrow.
