Linsly's Blount Signs with Florida A&M;Dodd to Lafayette

Linsly's Akil Blount has signed a national letter of intent to continue his football career at Florida A&M University in Tallahassee.

Blount, the son of former Pittsburgh Steelers and NFL Hall of Famer Mel Blount, finished his career with a school-record 25 sacks. He also scored 10 touchdowns as a senior, including a punt return for touchdown against arch-rival Wheeling Central. He caught 9 touchdown passes from his tight end position. Blount helped the Cadets to the fourth unbeaten season in school history.

He plans to pursue a degree in business and economics.

Blount's teammate, Mark Dodd, also signed a letter of intent to play college football in the Patriot League at Lafayette, and follow in the footsteps of former Cadet Mark Plumby.

Dodd finished his career at Linsly as the school's all-time leading tackler with 391 stops.  The three-year, team captain was a ball-hawking linebacker, and also scored 39 career touchdowns.

And Linsly's Chris Stephens will continue his football career at Alderson-Broaddus, where they're just starting a football program.

Stephens had a great senior season, when he intercepted a school single-season record 8 passes. He is the twin brother of Alex Stephens, who was the Cadets starting quarterback in 2011. Chris is also a letter winner in track and baseball.
