Belmont Co. Drug Task Force Puts Eight Behind Bars Friday

MARTINS FERRY, Ohio -

Eight people are behind bars tonight thanks to the Belmont County Drug Task Force.

The task force conducted a drug sweep in Martins Ferry today.

Making arrests on charges that all stemmed from cocaine and prescription medication, according to Martins Ferry Police Chief John McFarland.

Seven of those individuals were charged with trafficking and one of them with felony possession.

The individuals arrested were Justin Harvey, Rita Walker, Arthur Harvey,Terrance Thorne, Damon Pernick, Richard Smith, Amanda Smith, Jordan Davis, and Percy Sinclair. 

McFarland says they also were able to recover cash, drugs and contraband.

Authorities say other charges are expected to be filed in the future.

The Belmont County Drug Task Force is comprised by an officer from the Shadyside, Martins Ferry, St. Clairsville police departments and Belmont County Sheriffs Office.

McFarland tells 7 News that the arrests made today were a direct result from the Martins Ferry officer's investigation.

The U.S. Marshals also assisted in these arrests.
